August 2016 Mini Workshop

Our mini workshop in August was presented by Carolyn Turton (our new Queensland Guild President).

In this workshop Carolyn  demonstrated  how to make a pair of delicate beaded earrings. You might ask why a lace guild would include beading workshops in it’s agenda but as many of the modern or contemporary  lace styles include adding accessories such as beads or sequins learning to work with beads is very relevant. As well as the fact that we like to learn new skills and have fun.

Celebrating 20 Years of lace volunteering

Queensland Lace guild member Madge McLennan has been co-ordinating the Ipswich group meetings of Queensland Lace Guild for over 20 years.

Below are a collection of photographs from the open day which by all reports was greeted with lots of enthusiasm.

Upcoming General Meeting – 26th November 2016

The next General Meeting for Queensland Lace Guild will be held at Caloundra Arts and Craft Centre (C.A.C.A) on Saturday November 26th 2016.  Members and visitors are welcome.

The General Meeting will commence at 10:30am.  The agenda for the meeting was published in the latest ‘Bobbin About’ magazine

A light lunch will be provided for a gold coin donation

The Caloundra group will be celebrating 30 years of Lace and Commemorative bobbins are being made to mark this event. The bobbins will be spangled, have a pelican painted on stem and the inscription will read “Caloundra Lace Makers 30th Anniversary 2016.

These must be ordered in advance and orders close on 31st October. Cost for a bobbin will be $6.50 each ($13 a pair).
